To the Lord your God belongs the heavens, even the highest heavens the earth and everything in it. Yet the Lord set his affection on your forefathers and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants above all the nations
One week has already passed! The first week has been amazing - getting acclimated to the time change, the culture and the schedule. In Kona, practically every 15 minutes was scheduled for me. Here there is a lot of freedom so I find myself often feeling, “what should I do now?” It’s a good thing, learning how to rest and being okay with rest and not feeling the need to constantly do.
This week consisted of lots of orientation that included the history of the country, what being a Muslim means here and also the culture of believers. Being a Muslim here is more a cultural thing than a religion. Many would say they are Muslim but have never read the Koran or even go to the mosque. Which in a way makes it harder to share Jesus, since they aren’t necessarily sold out to one thing already.
I’ve never felt the Spirit more consistently than I do here. Jesus is passionate about these people. They’ve been through so much. From being mentioned in the Bible in Romans 15 (these are the people of Illyricum) and the signs and the wonders that were performed here during the days of Paul to advance the Gospel to wars, communism and genocide. Praying that the wells of the Gospel would be awakened once again!
Yesterday we had our first burn. (A burn is just a word for an extended time of worship and prayer). Just loving on Jesus for hours on end. He showed up in a powerful way. During one of the hours my team was all crammed into a small prayer room. I was on my face before the Lord praying for the people of Kosovo, asking that He would pour out His affections upon the people and that they would receive. I started to weep under the power of the Spirit asking that the spirit of fear would be removed and that the people would be free to cry, free to laugh, free to sing and free to smile! Walking the streets here, you rarely have anyone smile back. There is such a heaviness over the people and some would say rightfully so. However, Jesus brings life and joy and that is what he wants for Kosovo.
Would you join in praying with me that a spirit of joy would be released over this nation? That the affections of the Father would be made known and that Christ would be revealed.
Six more weeks of seeing the Gospel transform hearts, people, cities and a nation!
