To the Lord your God belongs the heavens, even the highest heavens the earth and everything in it. Yet the Lord set his affection on your forefathers and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants above all the nations
I have only been in Kona for a little over three days, but it honestly feels like I never left. My housemates have been so wonderful and I am still excited about living with 11 other people.
I jumped right in with the leadership track schedule on Wednesday, and I already have homework! We are reading the book, “A House That Contends: A Look at the Apostle Paul and the Prayer Movement” by Lou Engle and Sam Cerny and are required to submit reflections on the book. Also, the harder challenge that we are required to do is memorize The Sermon on the Mount. I will be honest, it has been a long time since I have dedicated time to memorizing Scripture. Well, now I get to memorize three chapters! Don’t let me fool you, I am really excited about it and grateful that it’s a requirement. The Sermon on the Mount needs to be the bread and butter of every Christian’s life. Jesus goes through so many topics that we need to know truth about - prayer, fasting, worrying, judging, marriage and so much more.
Most of my days are spent in the prayer room, catching up with friends and making new ones, plus hanging out with the Byrd’s three wonderful kiddos. I think I won the eldest child over by my drawing ability! Ha! How great it is to be considered skilled next to a seven year old. :)
In addition to the requirements for the leadership track I am finishing up a study from Mike Bickle on Song of Solomon and reading through the Gospels in the next 40 days. I’m realizing more and more that I want to know the character of Jesus and how he responded and acted and hopefully, do likewise.
Andy, the guy I will be assisting, is currently out of town but he returns next week, so then the schedule gets really fun and more realistic.
Thanks for all of your prayers and support! Words cannot express the amount of gratitude I have in my heart for all of you!
