To the Lord your God belongs the heavens, even the highest heavens the earth and everything in it. Yet the Lord set his affection on your forefathers and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants above all the nations
I feel like this question has been in the minds of many people I talk to, even after explaining “the plan.” So, in an attempt to clear up any confusion - here my friends is a rundown of the next year.
I am officially moving to Kona, Hawaii in October. I bought a one-way ticket! My primary role while in Kona will be serving the Byrd family. Andy and Holly have been with YWAM since 1998 and have three beautiful children. I will be living with them and six other adults - making a grand total of 12 in the house! Yay for community living!
My role in serving this family include helping Andy set-up regular communication with the long term plants that are being established, various groups that make up the Fire & Fragrance family, and friends of the ministry. Plus some administration help, hospitality help and helping with the kiddos to enable Holly to serve more on the campus.
In addition to this, I am a part of Fire & Fragrance’s Leadership Track. Here are some details on that:
The leadership development track is an open ended, one-year minimum training track designed to produce the following outcomes:
*Raise up priests before the Lord who have learned to prioritize His presence, live for His glory, and be led by His Spirit through a lifestyle of corporate and individual worship and intercession centered around the Word of God.
*Create mature and effective leaders who walk in great integrity and godly character that could staff DTS, lead outreaches and schools in any setting and circumstance.
*Release anointed preachers, teachers and worship leaders who could effectively teach and impart into any setting with great anointing and profound impact.
*Train community builders and pioneers who are effective in creating, discipling and multiplying missional communities centered around the presence of the Lord.
The track may include any of the following types of seasonal responsibilities:
*Prayer room staff
*Ministry into the town of Kona
*Backbone roles of serving the campus
*Staffing DTS (Discipleship Training Schools)
*Doing another type of training school
*Leading outreaches
*Participating with another pioneer community
*Teaching in schools
*Ministry trips
The leadership track will include the following types of discipleship and training:
*Weekly small group discipleship
*One-on-one discipleship
*Being a part of ministry teams in schools and in the community
*Lifestyle of worship and prayer
*Reading and writing assignments
*Teaching and preaching class
*Retreats
So, there you go. Hopefully this gives you a little insight into what the next year will look like for me. Needless to say, it’s going to be a busy year but one that I know will bear much fruit. I believe being a part of this community and leadership track will continue to instill in me the things I need to be able to plant a community and a house of prayer in the nations someday soon.
