lip gloss & shoes.
I have to remind myself fairly consistently that I am not just in a huge blob of people that God looks at.
He actually sees me.
He hears me.
He knows me.
Not me in a mix of a large crowd. But just me. And somehow in the awesomeness of God, he does that for you too.
Last week I was thinking to myself how I lost my Bath & Body lip gloss that I love so much. I was thinking how there...

Detroit & TheCall
Too many amazing things to share about my week in Detroit. Perhaps that is why I have delayed writing this update. How could I begin to articulate the amount of joy, freedom and hope that was given? That typically is how it goes when we experience something supernatural. It’s other-worldly, and hard to express. But here are a few things that I walked away with from my week in Detroit.
A...

Reflections from the Gospels - I Haven't Come To...
In Matthew 5:17, Jesus says, ”Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets: I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”
What’s interesting to me is that if you read...
I have only been in Kona for a little over three days, but it honestly feels like I never left. My housemates have been so wonderful and I am still excited about living with 11 other people.
I jumped right in with the leadership track schedule on Wednesday, and I already have homework! We are reading the book, “A House That Contends: A Look at the Apostle Paul and the Prayer...

Salvation - a FREE gift from God
I’m in the middle of a book about grace and my heart is filled to the brim. This book goes through the book of Romans to give a greater understanding of grace, salvation and the different responses to grace. There are the hedonists, judgmentalists and legalists. The first disregards God, the second seeks to distract God, and the third hopes to reimburse God. However, each one misses God.

Now, what exactly are you doing?
I feel like this question has been in the minds of many people I talk to, even after explaining “the plan.” So, in an attempt to clear up any confusion - here my friends is a rundown of the next year.
I am officially moving to Kona, Hawaii in October. I bought a one-way ticket! My primary role while in Kona will be serving the Byrd family. Andy and Holly have been with YWAM since...
Say, what?
Have you ever had a moment where you were reading something but your mind wasn’t fully engaged, then you read something startlingly and you had to go back and reread it just to make sure it wasn’t as crazy as what you thought it said?
I had a moment like that recently while I was reading in Second Thessalonians.
“And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus...

Fathers & Mothers
During the past two weeks of class, we’ve had fathers and mothers in the faith come and impart mass amounts of wisdom and revelation for which I am so grateful!
In one week we had three incredible leaders from YWAM - founders, Loren & Darlene Cunningham and long-time YWAMer David Hamilton. David encouraged us to pray that the Holy Spirit would be like a salt shaker in our lives;...

My amazing church let me share about my DTS experience and what the Lord has been teaching me recently. It’s up on their website if you want to listen!
It’s the June 26th audio clip!

Halfway
It’s the halfway point of the School of the Circuit Riders and my life has already been drastically changed! I cannot wait for the rest of the school as Jackie Pullinger, Ray Hughes and Lou Engle come to impart even more wisdom and zeal.
The school leaders have kept it basic. Let’s go back to the true, simple Gospel. Let’s infuse our thinking with the Truth. Not with theology...
“The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:8-9
A very familiar passage, but as I read it yesterday I wondered why is it crucial that we believe that God raised...

the gospel.
the gospel.
it’s a simple thing but hard for our minds to grasp.
it’s beautiful.
it’s astonishing.
it’s transformational.
it’s life changing.
what i’ve been thinking about most recently concerning the gospel is that the gospel isn’t just a “get out of hell card” but an invitation to a relationship that changes everything.
the way i...

Quick Story
Our team has been going to the hospital twice a week for the past three weeks. Praying for the sick and sharing the Gospel. Each time we’ve gone we’ve seen healings, salvation and freedom! One quick story from yesterday.
I went to the hospital with my teammates Lia and Joanna. We sat outside on a bench and started praying for the hospital and the patients. Then it started to rain. (It...

short it is! for now. :)
Tonight we kick off 24 hours of prayer and worship to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. We don’t need to pray for the Holy Spirit to come - he already has! But we are praying that the hearts of the Kosovo people would be open and that we would once again see the fruit that came when the Holy Spirit was given. 3,000 were added to their number...

We have had the privilege of teaching some discipleship classes during the past two weeks to some of the local believers. I got to share on how to study the Bible and also the importance of doing burns. A burn is just a word for an extended time of prayer and worship. We have done two 8 hour burns already and are planning to do one more before we leave. Here’s a brief rundown on the...

Week One
One week has already passed! The first week has been amazing - getting acclimated to the time change, the culture and the schedule. In Kona, practically every 15 minutes was scheduled for me. Here there is a lot of freedom so I find myself often feeling, “what should I do now?” It’s a good thing, learning how to rest and being okay with rest and not feeling the need to constantly...

Jesus, friend of sinners
I sing this phrase, but how often do I emulate this phrase?
Last week, the lecture topic was Church Planting. We took a look at Luke 5:27-32, the calling of Levi.
After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, 28 and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.
29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at...
be filled with joy and confidence!
Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.
I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”
I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.
LORD, you alone are...

Three more weeks
That’s it. Just three more weeks of being in this environment before I’m sent out to see if I can actually fly on my own. My leaders asked if I would be the student leader for my outreach team since right now we only have one leader and he is a guy. I take this as an incredible privilege and honor. There are amazing women on my team and I love that I get to serve them and encourage...

i found this little gem when i was clearing space on my computer. this is marked 2.12.10. i love the way jesus works everything out.
what do i really want to do?
that was the question and answer, all in one. i think the lord loves answering in questions.
i was asking the lord what i should do.
lord, should i move to nashville?
lord, should i pursue this job?
and i just felt the prompting,...

Sacrificial Giving
If I asked you to either give $500 to someone or your iPod, or favorite pair of shoes, or guitar, which one would you choose?
Honestly, for me it is easier to give money than it is to give items. Perhaps you are the same way. I think as believers we have gotten to the place where we know money is not our own and so we can tithe and sow generously into other’s lives. However, this mentality...

Too Many One Liners...
I opted not to say all of these in the video update but these are some of the truths I learned this past week.
Be blessed! If you want clarification or context for any of them let me know!
*Our faith can’t be in the acts of God, but in the God who acts.
*Salvation causes all of heaven to rejoice - not miracles.
*You can’t be bitter about something you’ve died to.
*I...

and so it begins...
I arrived in Kona around 4:30pm yesterday and it has been glorious ever since.
Just stepping off the plane to sunshine, ocean and green makes me so happy. I went through registration and headed to my room to meet my roommates. There are five of us sharing a room, which is better than some other rooms where there are seven or even eight girls sharing one room. Did I mention that there is only one...

The Story of Me Part VI
Yes, of course.
Those are the only words that come to mind when I think about the journey that I am about to start tomorrow.
Within a year, a person’s capacity to grow and change is immense. The change that can happen within five years is remarkable. I am not the same girl that I was at age 18 - thank you Jesus. I’ve discovered new found loves and have matured in my faith and view...

The Story of Me Part V
One aspect that I love about God is that he is never caught off guard. So many things can happen in our lives that throw us off balance. Fortunately for us, it is not that way with him.
An email saying that this specific YWAM base wasn’t accepting international students didn’t throw off his plan. God maneuvers in our lives in such a unique and specific way. I’ve learned to be...

The Story of Me Part IV
In the midst of my scheming about the future, I visited a few colleges. The college that seemed to be a perfect fit was called Toccoa Falls in Georgia. I visited the campus the fall of my senior year and met with the head professor of the Communications department. I told him about the plan - how I wanted to do radio broadcasting in a Spanish speaking country. He encouraged me to do some type of...
